CASES

 CASE 1 v2

- Man, 40 years old

 - This is a patient with hay fever and asthma, a very serious case.

 - As in Kali bichromicum with this remedy you also see that you don't have to change so easily.

 - This man has been doing well for five years and when he relapses I repeat the same remedy, which means at least in this case- and I also saw it in many other cases- that they don't easily develop to another remedy.

 - A: I saw you the first time on April 30, 1984 because of hay fever and asthma.

 - For how long did you have complaints?

 - P: At that time, in 1984, I suffered for about nine years.

 - A: Which treatment did you have before?

 - P: Antihistamines, when the attacks of sneezing and runny nose started again.

 - Constant antibiotics, it could be four to five times during a winter.

 - Infect, without any result.

 - A: Because it always came back?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: Tell me.

 - How these attacks started, the most important symptoms.

 - P: Usually, it started with a sore throat, in the morning when I got up I had a sore throat.

 - I always thought that it was an inflammation of the throat and the doctors confirmed this.

 - They said that I had to take antibiotics.

 - I took them but it didn't help.

 - Slowly it developed to a runny nose.

 - I got attacks of sneezing and later on the eyes?

 - A: What did you feel in your eyes?

 - P: Maybe, it is important to say, in fact it started around the eyes.

 - It was at the beginning of the season, so about March.

 - It always started in March.

 - A: Usually on the same day of every year?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: On march, 10?

 - P: It happened to be my birthday.

 - But, probably it had some thing to do with spring, with the trees and so on.

 - From which rubric can we start, when he says that it always started in march/April?

 - There are two possibilities, or under nose.

 - " Sneezing, hay asthma, with" on page 351 or under respiration " asthmatic, hay asthma" on page 765.

 - Are there other rubrics for yearly returning hay fever?

 - Answer: " Annual coryza."

 - A: Yes, annual coryza, under nose " coryza, annual (hay fever)" on page 326.

 - That is really a good rubric, the best to start from.

 - There you see all is the important hay fever remedies.

 - The most important of al is which remedy?

 - In practice?

 - Answer: " Natrum muriaticum."

 - A: Yes, that's right.

 - Natrum muriaticum is the most important hay remedy in practice.

 - If hay fever is accompanied by migraine you can forget everything and give Natrum muriaticum; the same in hay fever or asthma with eczema and a headache.

 - Yesterday someone told me about a child with these complaints: asthma, eczema and a headache.

 - The first remedy of which we have to think is Natrum muriaticum.

 - In the rubric there is also Allium cepa.

 - Allium cepa is complementary to which remedy?

 - To phosphorus.

 - Arundo with itching where?

 - At the gums and they try to scratch with the tongue.

 - Besides they have cracks in the rectum and so on.

 - Sabadilla as a complementary remedy to which remedy?

 - To Sepia.

 - Sabadilla with the crippled nails and the itching in the rectum.

 - Sinapis nigra is left handed, and Psorinum.

 - In the rubric " hay fever together with asthmatic respiration" Natrum muriaticum is not there, but you can easily add it.

 - In the rubric" hay fever" the following remedies have to be added: Aralia racemosa, Kali carbonicum, Tuberculinum, Medorrhinum, Phellandrium, Senecio and Sulphur.

 - That is the rubric from which we can start, but you know that it is a clinical rubric and in Homoeopathy you have to be careful with clinical rubrics.

 - Don't rely only on clinical rubrics.

 - Peculiarities, peculiar symptoms are important in Homoeopathy.

 - A: Did it start with pain in the throat or rather with the eyes?

 - P: Rather with the eyes, but it was tolerable.

 - A: It was something else.

 - You had two problems.

 - The first problem was pain in the throat and then also the cough.

 - P: I had a runny nose and attacks of sneezing and this extended to the lungs.

 - A: Did you have shortness of breath?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: Tell me, how did it go with the shortness of breath?

 - P: Once it was so bad that I nearly couldn't breath anymore at night.

 - A: Only once?

 - P: Yes, only once.

 - A: At what time?

 - P: At 3,4 o'clock at night.

 - At 3,4 o'clock the attacks were worse, so that he almost couldn't breathe.

 - A difficult respiration between 3 and 4 o'clock, in this area.

 - Whether we take the rubric " difficult respiration" or " asthma", it is the same thing.

 - Let's take the rubric " asthmatic respiration" on page 764 "between 2 and 3 o'clock", about 3 o'clock".

 - We see some remedies and this is the keynote of a certain remedy, namely of kali carbonicum.

 - There are other Kali's: kali nitricum and kali arsenicosum.

 - The difference isn't easy and concerns only the appearance of the attack of asthma.

 - They all have to sit upright during an attack of asthma, and in kali nitricum they even don't have air enough to drink.

 - First of all there is an aggravation about 3 o'clock a.m.

 - And then there is a very bad asthma, where they drink and put the glass away immediately because they have to breathe.

 - The other remedy is kali arsenicosum.

 - There is the Arsenicum element of a big anxiety with restlessness.

 - You see the aggravation about 3 o'clock a.m. , the kali's an if there is a strong anxiety and restlessness, an anxiety to die, this is going to Arsenicum.

 - This is the only difference between kali carbonicum, kali arsenicosum and kali nitricum.

 - In kali nitricum the degree of lack of oxygen is much higher than in a kali carbonicum.

 - Don't exist, neither in Kali arsenicosum.

 - It is a kind of combination of the kali's and Arsenicum.

 - All right, in this case the biggest aggravation is about 3 o'clock.

 - P: At that time I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I ate too much French cheese the evening before.

 - There might be a relationship.

 - I didn't have it before or afterwards.

 - The shortness of breath lasted for a long time, after the cold was gone.

 - A: Was it a kind of wheezing?

 - P: In fact not wheezing, more a kind of feeling as if my lungs were full of water.

 - It was a kind of oppressed feeling.

 - A: And you didn't have expectorations?

 - P: No.

 - When you see this man, what kind of impression do you get?

 - Does he sit there like Sulphur?

 - No, he is properly dressed like Mercurius.

 - That is one point.

 - The second thing, we can also observe a baldness.

 - This remedy is very important in baldness.

 - You will see some cases of this remedy where the patients lost their hair, also at the front of the head.

 - Thee is a third point in the observation, by which you immediately have to think of this remedy.

 - The eyelashes disappear under the upper lid.

 - Yesterday evening we went out to eat and there was a woman, a small.

 - Narrow, long woman, who was walking properly, seriously.

 - You could see that she was very reserved and her eyelashes disappeared behind the eyelids.

 - I said to the others, " Look, that is the remedy we will talk about tomorrow."

 - These are observation which lead you in the right direction.

 - You see something and immediately you think of a certain remedy.

 - Why does he have this symptom?

 - Why the hair there?

 - Why is he dressed so properly?

 - There must be a reason.

 - It must remind you of a certain remedy and then you have to go down the path way of this remedy and try to find it out.

 - A: Usually, it started like a cold, with a sore throat and a sniveling nose and it extended to the lungs.

 - The second element was a kind of hay fever, which started on March 10.

 - How did it go?

 - P: It started with itching in the eyes.

 - First, one eye and then the other.

 - And finally, it went so far that I couldn't stop rubbing, there was so much stitching.

 - Then, I went to the family doctor and he gave me the same thing every time...

 - A: Cortisone?

 - P: Yes, cortisone, I think it is a dangerous remedy.

 - That is with the remedy completely...

 - A: Yes, yes, good.

 - Was the swelling of the eyes accompanied with sneezing?

 - P: No, not so much sneezing with swelling of the eyes.

 - A: You didn't have to sneeze?

 - P: No.

 - It was only a stitching in the eyes.

 - A: Also lacrimation?

 - P: No, not so much.

 - A: Swellings.

 - Itching of the eyes.

 - Did it go away with the drops from the eye doctor?

 - P: It went away, but when I stopped it came back.

 - A: And for how long did you have to put the drops in the eyes?

 - Until the period of hay fever was over?

 - P: Yes.

 - I can t exactly say, but often it was quite a long period.

 - Of course, you tend to stop the drops when it is better, but then it came back.

 - A: Did it go away when the spring was over, when it became summer?

 - P: In may it was over.

 - But then I still had the coryza and problems with breathing.

 - This lasted until the middle of June.

 - When the weather was really good, it went away but it came back about September/October.

 - A: It was remarkable- probably you don't remember anymore- when you had shortness of breath, you couldn't lie down.

 - P: Yes.

 - A: Which position did you have to take?

 - P: I just sat upright.

 - This position.

 - Look under "difficult respiration, sitting upright amel."

 - On page 771, below it is written " with head bent forward on knees amel."

 - There is Kali carbonicum capital.

 - That is a very important symptom of Kali carbonicum, as important as the small spot pain and the wandering pain in kali bichromicum.

 - Also after birth, when there are problems and the woman wants to sit upright all the time and cant lie down, that is also kali carbonicum.

 - In all these situations don't go too quickly to another remedy, first give kali carbonicum when there is an aggravation at night about 2, 3,4,o'clock and an amelioration by sitting up.

 - In allopathy they say it is normal because the lungs are more open.

 - But that is not normal.

 - Why does Psorinum in asthma lie like Jesus Christ on the back?

 - Why does Medorrhinum lie on the face?

 - Why do Medorrhinum children lie on their knees and their face into the pillow to breathe better?

 - That is a peculiar thing and in kali carbonicum it is this upright sitting position.

 - P: I got up because I couldn't lie down, I had to sit upright or run about, to sit on the couch.

 - A: Bent forward?

 - P: No.

 - A: Just sit up.

 - A: It is important, concerning the shortness of breath in acute cases.

 - You find this situation in another remedy, but here they have to sit down and they need a ventilator.

 - Which remedy?

 - Carbo vegetables, and don't forget Carbo vegetables is complementary to Kali carbonicum.

 - Difficult respiration with a dark appearance, dark red with a blue tint on the nose, also the hands are blue, but you see a deep redness in it.

 - Usually, it concerns old people.

 - If you see them you think, " They must be warm, because they look like the plethoric Sulphurs", but when you touch their nose it is cold.

 - That is Carbo vegetables.

 - When you have someone with a sulphur impression because of this dark, plethoric redness, but there is a blue tint, a kind of cyanosis and if you touch the nose it is cold and if you touch the ear and it is also cold, then it is Carbo vegetables.

 - After the amelioration of Carbo vegetables normally he will need kali carbonicum.

 - These two remedies are complementary in respiratory problems.

 - Carbo vegetables will give you the energy to jump to the ground floor and kali carbonicum will give you the energy to jump to the first floor.

 - And that is the peculiarity in Carbo vegetables, they feel cold and at the same time they need draft of air, they liked to be fanned.

 - A: Further you are rather chilly.

 - You are easily cold.

 - P: Yes.

 - I just thought about it.

 - Maybe, exactly about that time, when I came into treatment here I started to take a shower in the morning.

 - Now, it is so bad that I can't start when I don't take a hot shower in the morning.

 - I feel I t in my whole body.

 - When I can't take a shower immediately when I get up, I'm not a human being.

 - But once I take a shower, I can easily start working.

 - A: It is also remarkable that when I take a look at you your eyelashes are hard to see.

 - The eyelids hang above the eyelashes.

 - P: Yes, that is a family characteristic.

 - My father has this, my sister also and many other members of the family.

 - Don't believe this is normal.

 - What does it mean?

 - That his father and his sister also need kali carbonicum.

 - If one of the family is clearly constitutional kali carbonicum, some other members of the family will also need it.

 - A: That indicates the same homoeopathic remedy.

 - P: Yes, I know, because other members of the family suffer from it as well.

 - I already told them to come here, but they don't believe it.

 - Don't run behind you patients, I mean, don't beg to treat them.

 - We homeopaths are too enthusiastic.

 - We see someone and say: he needs Sulphur.

 - When you start with Homoeopathy everybody needs Sulphur.

 - Or when you see a fat woman you say: she needs Calcarea carbonica.

 - At the beginning also everybody needs Calcarea.

 - But the more advanced you are the more careful you become to see and shoot from the hip with your remedy.

 - All right.

 - But why shouldn't you run behind your patients?

 - Everybody has his responsibility and if you ask to treat someone you take his responsibility on your shoulders.

 - That is absolutely not good for a homeopath, because then when he has something it is your fault.

 - A: You are chilly.

 - In bed you have to be covered up very well?

 - P: Yes.

 - For example, I can’t sleep with just a shirt, my arms have to be covered up!

 - Everything has to be covered up very well.

 - A: When I see you, you are always dressed very well.

 - Is that important for you?

 - P: No, in fact not.

 - It is rather my wife who stands behind this.

 - But of course, my job requires that I'm dressed up during the day.

 - A: Yes, I mean, when you are among people, usually you are dressed very well.

 - Is this your character?

 - That you like to...

 - P: Yes.

 - I can't tolerate dirty clothes.

 - I would rather go to work with worn out pants than with pants with spots.

 - I like them to be clean.

 - I think nothing is so terrible as when there is a spot on my jacket.

 - I don't feel well.

 - A: You took over the shop of your father.

 - In your opinion as a human being...Can we say that you are a progressive person?

 - Left Orientated?

 - P: Because I like new thinkgs?

 - That is because I know that is the only way to do business, to be one step ahead.

 - I look everywhere to get something new, to get something exclusive, to be one step ahead.

 - A: In your factory?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: Further?

 - Are you a person who easily goes astray?

 - P: No.

 - Once I take a direction- they say that I am stubborn then I don't go astray anymore.

 - I'm determined, I hold on to it.

 - A: What about you ideas about marriage and so on?

 - P: Probably very conservative, I think.

 - I can hardly imagine what is said these days about all this.

 - Open relationships and is very important, a goof family.

 - A: So rather classical, concerning your opinions.

 - P: Yes, concerning these things.

 - But concerning these.

 - But concerning the furniture of the house I'm rather classical, concerning your opinions.

 - P: Yes, concerning the furniture of the house I'm rather progressive.

 - A: Modern.

 - P: Yes, modern.

 - But I don't like things like post- modern, but classical -modern, what was modern 10, 20 years ago and which is still modern.

 - That's what I like.

 - That is beautiful, very beautiful, the way he says this.

 - A: Do you think that you are dutiful?

 - P: Yes.

 - Sometimes it may be a disadvantage, that the burden becomes too heavy.

 - I take too many things to heart, because I think it is my duty.

 - I don't go away from it.

 - When I promise something I will vary it out.

 - A: In this sense you are very sensitive.

 - If you think it is your duty then you have to do this and then very little...

 - P: Nothing can come stop me.

 - A: Very little can dissuade you, you will push through.

 - Also when your wife starts making demands, she doesn't stop you.

 - P: At that moment not, no.

 - Do you see the difference?

 - Do you feel the difference?

 - It is difficult.

 - Kali bichromicum is also dutiful, but the family comes in the first place.

 - Here, the family is also important, but she doesn't come in the first place.

 - If you are married, you have some duties towards the family.

 - Another element appears which is a little bit more important and that is his job.

 - The weight of the psychological picture has changed a little bit.

 - You also see that he is conservative, like Mercurius and Kali bichromicum are conservative; kali bichromicum is conservative towards his family, Mercurius towards order, rules in society.

 - Here it is more the personal duty, for which he is responsible and a little bit conservative, a little bit aristocratic conservative on a higher level.

 - A: Concerning you appetite, what do you like to eat?

 - P: Every day I start with a slice of bread with curds.

 - When I don't eat this, things don't go their usual way.

 - A: Apparently, there are also classical rules in your daily life.

 - Every morning a shower, then a slice of bread with curds and then?

 - P: Everything which disturbs this, disturbs me.

 - Do you see the inflexibility, the rigidity in his being?

 - A: Which food do you prefer?

 - P: I can always eat bacon with eggs, at noon, in the evening.

 - I like it very much.

 - I am very fond of it.

 - A: Scrambled eggs?

 - P: No, fried eggs with bacon.

 - A:   Do you like sweets?

 - P: I like it, but not always.

 - But I like a bar of good, bitter chocolate.

 - A: Do you take sugar in your coffee?

 - P: I don't drink coffee.

 - A: I mean, homeopathic coffee or tea.

 - P: I do in my tea.

 - But it may not be too much.

 - I also don't like a very sweet dessert either.

 - If you say to these people that they may not drink coffee, they won't drink coffee for the rest of their life.

 - In Sulphur you can forget it.

 - They say: I made a decision, it is my way and I will follow this way.

 - If there are external influences which try to push me away from my direction-no.

 - That is the reason why they withhold their emotions, because the only important thing is the duty and all the rest is put away, and that's why they get asthma.

 - But he doesn't have asthma, this is something else.

 - You know that Kali carbonicum has a desire for sweets.

 - He puts sugar in his tea.

 - A: Do you think that you are an anxious person essentially?

 - That you are easily anxious?

 - P: I am about the security that you can be quiet...

 - A: Financially?

 - P: Yes.

 - When something is at stake, I can become angry.

 - A: I remember that I gave you a remedy on April 30, 1984 in M potency.

 - In the meantime it is 1988.

 - I always repeated this remedy when you had a relapse.

 - But when you took the remedy the first time you became very ill.

 - P: It lasted three weeks.

 - A: At that time I gave you a remedy by which you had difficult respiration.

 - You had a serious attack of asthma.

 - You started coughing and I told you that it was good, because the shortness of breath was much better after the remedy.

 - Do you still remember that you had very much expectoration?

 - P: Yes, there was no end to it.

 - It was completely at the beginning of the treatment.

 - It became worse and worse.

 - It was so bad that after one or two weeks I went to another doctor again.

 - He took blood and at the same time he gave me two boxes of antibiotics.

 - I called you and you said that they didn't understand anything about it.

 - Suddenly I felt very well, one week later.

 - A: The reaction was very interesting: You had shortness of breath, took the remedy, the shortness of breath diminished, disappeared almost completely and you started coughing enormously, also with expectoration of mucus.

 - P: Yes.

 - In fact, always very thin.

 - A: Also very much sneezing, I think.

 - P: Yes.

 - Attacks of sneezing and coughing after each other.

 - At that time I had to sleep alone or downstairs on the couch, because otherwise my wife couldn't sleep.

 - I kept them all awake.

 - A: You coughed day and night?

 - P: Yes.

 - That's why I couldn't go to work for three weeks.

 - A: You didn't take any other remedy and then it was over.

 - You see how difficult it is.

 - When he is constitutional kali carbonicum and has confidence it is all right.

 - But you must put yourself in my place: you give a remedy and when you forget to think clearly he becomes asthmatic.

 - After the remedy he starts coughing, day and night coughing, and that was a good reaction.

 - But 90% of you think that you have to give another remedy and that is the point where you spoil the case.

 - First, you give kali carbonicum and then another remedy, that can disrupt the action of kali carbonicum and then you push the cough away, but the cough has to remain there to bring out expectoration.

 - If the cough stops after two days with another remedy you can forget the case.

 - If patient s took cortisone or antibiotics for a long time, after the right remedy you will get such reactions as, for example, high fever, a headache, coughing and so on.

 - Most people misinterpret this, they think that their remedy was wrong and they give another remedy.

 - Therefore it is very important to be sure of the remedy and you can be sure of the remedy because of certain keynotes: has to sit upright, aggravation at three o'clock at night; also the appearance and the character of the patient indicate this remedy clearly.

 - If all these elements come together, you can be sure and say to the patient that he should go on coughing, that he doesn't have to worry about the cough, that it will go away.

 - That is the difficulty.

 - Once he is through this period it's all over.

 - It he has a relapse you only have to repeat kali carbonicum 10 M or 50M and everything will disappear again.

 - I see him about once a year, then he comes and says, "I think my sneezing is coming back and the cough also a little bit."

 - Only the sneezing, but not the shortness of breath.

 - I repeat kali carbonicum and everything will be all right again.

 - A: I tell you this because of the first reaction, although this was not the point here, but something else.

 - P: It seemed to me a kick-off reaction.

 - A: Yes, it is possible, but the most important symptom, the shortness of breath has gone and instead you started coughing.

 - This means that an elimination process has been started.

 - It is also interesting, when I look into his file, another doctor of the centre gave him kali bichromicum once and another Nux vomica and both remedies didn't do anything at all.

 - That's why I say that kali bichromicum can't do the work for Kali carbonicum.

 - It is important to see how wrong prescriptions don't do anything.

 - At the end you can say that it is kali carbonicum and you can trust it, because he is doing well for four years.

 - The mental picture of kali carbonicum is clear and you can rely on this.

 - It has been proved in practice.

 - A: Afterwards, everything became all right.

 - But sometime you relapse and I repeat the same remedy.

 - You always react very well to it, because this remedy concerns you constitutional being.

 - All right, that's all.

 - You have to go to church.

 - On Sunday you always go to church, don't you?

 - That is also classical.

 - P: On Saturday or Sunday.

 - A: Nothing can prevent you from not going.

 - He is married to a Sepia woman which often comes into a hysterical Ignatia state.

 - Why?

 - She is married to a man where you don't find any ups and downs.

 - He is like-

 - Remark: "He is boring."

 - A: Yes, he is boring, a man who never laughs, who never weeps, however has a real sexual desire, who is never angry.

 - And Sepia, also like its complementary Ignatia, wants changes, they want to live.

 - Their nature is the constant up and down and to live with such a man it is boring for her, it is always the same.

 - But not only for Sepia, also for Tuberculinum it would be hell.

 - If Tuberculinum is married to Kali carbonicum, there will be problems for sure.

 - Question: " Could you say why they both married?

 - It seems to be strange that they are married."

 - A: There are many different reasons why people marry.

 - Remark: " Maybe because she was pregnant and he had to do his duty to marry her."

 - A: I don't think that a kali carbonicum man would make a woman pregnant before he is married.

 - He will withhold himself, out of principle.

CASE 2 v2

 Hypertension

 Kalium carbonicum

 - Man, 60 years old

 - What do we see?

 - There is baldness, and look at the eyes, his problem is high blood pressure and immediately you think of a certain remedy.

 - A: Your original problem was high blood pressure.

 - P: Yes.

 - Last week during the examination on account of an extension of my illness they measured a pressure of 100.

 - A: Yes, its quite a long time ago that I gave you the remedy.

 - P; Lately I notice that my fingers become white and I get cold feet as if my blood circulation doesn't function well.

 - A: Yes, it is time you get your remedy again.

 - The first time you were here on November14, 1986.

 - The blood pressure was 210/120 mmHg.

 - How is it now?

 - P: 150/100 mm Hg, and at the check up they measured 140/90 mm Hg a few times, I think.

 - A: Nevertheless, it is still much lower than it was originally.

 - It is time that we repeat your remedy.

 - In Homoeopathy.

 - In Homoeopathy the observation is of course very important.

 - It was very remarkable that you had one red ear.

 - P: It appears regularly, especially when I am tired.

 - Then it becomes red as fire.

 - It is a strange symptom when you are not dealing with a hysterical personality, but with a man like this.

 - Let's have a look at the Repertory.

 - " Discoloration, ear, on one side" on page 287.

one-sided : Alum., carb-v., ign., Ind., kali-c., nat-p., tab.

 - A few remedies which have been added by Boger are Antimonium crudum, kreosotum, Natrum muriaticum, Sepia and Tellurium.

 - Remark: " And China."

 - A: China from Hahnemann.

 - All right.

 - And then you add under " one sided": "right ": Calcarea carbonica and "left": Sepia.

 - That is important.

 - You see that certain little symptoms lead you to a remedy.

 - Remark: "Kali carbonicum is not in the rubric 'baldness'."

 - A: Yes, but we can take the rubric " hair falling".

 - He is not completely bold, he had partial hair loss.

 - A: One ear red as fire.

 - Often you find a remedy by observation.

 - This was nearly the only symptom we could find.

 - P: Externally.

 - Internally it is here.

 - A: What do you mean?

 - P: Here, internally there is an inward conflict.

 - I fee it very well.

 - A: What do you mean?

 - P: You know my problem.

 - A: Yes, but tell it again.

 - P: My wife died six years ago.

 - I was left with five children and I tried to combine the housekeeping with my job at school.

 - He wanted to do what he had to do as the father of a family and as a teacher, he wanted to combine both.

 - P: After four or five years it became too much, then I had problems with my blood pressure.

 - At that time I met another woman, but it was not as easy as I imagined.

 - I thought that when you know each other for a long period you could start a new family life and marry again.

 - It is important.

 - For him it's not good to have only a relationship, no, they should marry.

 - P: But it is not so easy.

 - My biggest problem is that I hold on to principles.

 - I would like to marry in the church.

 - To marry before the law is not necessary for me, but even there seems to be insurmountable problems.

 - Do you understand what the important point is?

 - The family, but out of principle.

 - " That is my principle.

 - I don't have to marry before law, but before church.

 - It has to be like that, because it is normal.

 - It is our duty to be married if we sleep together."

 - Do you see the difference?

 - It is not because of the family, the family is one of the duties and the duty is the most important thing in your life, and that is the problem.

 - The woman whom he knows is also a widow, he goes to her, she comes to him, they sleep together, they have a good understanding, but there is something in him, a friction, a tension.

 - Why?

 - Because of his character.

 - His being says that everything has to be done according to the rules, according to what has to be done.

 - P: Last week I want to break again with this woman.

 - Previously, it happened as well, but it didn't work.

 - She doesn't want to let me go.

 - She loves me.

 - " I don't want to lose you," she says.

 - That is our problem.

 - I would like to marry before church and she says that it is not necessary.

 - A: Why?

 - P: For me it is a question of conscience.

 - I don't want the children to reproach me, "You just live together with another woman."

 - In this matter I'm in a rather weak situation.

 - Although, concerning this matter the children haven't said anything up to now.

 - The children like this woman very much.

 - But often she feels like the fifth wheel on a car.

 - The problem is to bring everything under one hat.

 - A: Strange enough your character doesn't allow you to live together with this woman as long a you are not married before church, even when the children wouldn't protest.

 - P: Well, I don't know whether they would protest.

 - The eldest daughter told me that she would like us to be married.

 - She also felt that this could be the solution for our problem, because during the weekends she is always at home.

 - She takes care of the food so that I don't have to cook the following week.

 - I think you shouldn't underestimate when you have to take care of such housekeeping.

 - A: Of course.

 - There is something in your life, which is the most important thing.

 - What is this?

 - What is this?

 - For you as a person?

 - P: To be happy, but in a straight way.

 - I want everything to be all right and I hold on to my principles.

 - They are as a saint to me.

 - A: What is as a saint to you?

 - Your principles?

 - Or is there another word for it?

 - Your duty?

 - P: Yes, of course, it goes together.

 - It is also the same in school

 - .A: What do you mean?

 - P: I would like to do what is on the learning program, but at the moment it becomes more and more difficult.

 - Those guys don't swallow this anymore.

 - There has been a big change.

 - Therefore it becomes more and more difficult for me.

 - I think all these problems together caused my high blood pressure.

 - A: Because you withhold yourself too much.

 - P: Maybe.

 - A: You are very duty- minded.

 - You can't let go you can't get away form your opinion.

 - P: Introverted.

 - A: Introverted, duty -minded.

 - You can't let go.

 - You can't get away from your opinion.

 - P: Not easily.

 - But finally you notice that you have to stand still.

 - When I finish this relationship I'm on my own again.

 - The new contacts which have been made by this woman disappear also.

 - In fact, I'm isolated again.

 - To do something at the cost of principles, it is bad.

 - A: You can't.

 - Do you understand his character now?

 - He is introverted, he is withholding, he is strict, he is inflexible and if there are problems at school because the pupils don't have the discipline of before or his girlfriend doesn't want to marry before church, he starts having problems.

 - These psychological problems are transmitted to the physical level; also the blood vessels become in flexible.

 - The nervous system is holding the blood vessels in a convulsive state, contraction, inflexible, still, so still they are themselves.

 - Hypertensive people are people who withhold their feelings.

 - You know this of Mercurius, Natrum muriaticum and kali carbonicum.

 - They all withhold their feelings and they get high blood pressure.

 - You see that the high blood pressure is a result of the not being able to express your emotions, because of your constitution.

 - You can tell the patient: "You have to talk with other people and you have to do this and that" - no, you have to give him the right homoeopathic remedy, so that they are able to express themselves.

 - A: Do you sometime have salivation at night?

 - P: No, not that I know.

 - A: Do you perspire at night?

 - P: I didn't notice it yet.

 - A: What do you feel there?

 - Is this more in the region of the stomach or more in the breast?

 - P: In my breast.

 - Here.

 - A: What do you feel there?

 - P: It's like a pressure.

 - I also felt this shortly before I stopped at school.

 - And oppressed feeling.

 - A: Is there something?

 - A lump or something like that?

 - P: No, it is just an oppressive feeling.

 - And lately I have such cold hands and white fingers, Evan cold feet.

 - Usually, I don't have it

 - A: You are rather chilly lately?

 - P: Yes.

 - Kali carbonicum is also a chilly remedy.

 - They are sensitive to change of weather and sensitive to cold.

 - Remark: "..." (not understandable)

 - A: He said that Mercurius is offended if other people don't do what they have to do for society and that kali carbonicum loses his energy if he himself can’t do what he thinks that he has to do in the society.

 - That is right.

 - P: Besides, last week I had a blood pressure of 100.

 - I don't like that.

 - A: It is not so bad.

 - It is not a problem for us.

 - You know that it will be all right with the remedy.

 - What about your sleep?

 - P: I sleep very well.

 - A: You don't wake up at night?

 - P: No, not so easily.

 - Last week, I did once, but it was the birthday of the death of my wife.

 - Then I woke up at 6 o'clock in the morning.

 - A: You don't wake up before 6 o'clock?

 - P: Never.

 - If it happens I fall immediately asleep again.

 - It almost never happens, only once, when I have to go to the toilet.

 - A: Do you wake up every night because you have to go to the toilet?

 - P: No, absolutely not.

 - Sometimes in the morning.

 - A: About what time?

 - P: About 7 o'clock.

 - : What about your appetite?

 - P: All right.

 - A: You don't like sweets?

 - P: I like chocolate.

 - A: Do you like sweet things?

 - P: Only chocolate.

 - A: It is remarkable we can't see your eyelashes.

 - They are hidden by something which is hanging over it.

 - Are your eyelids ever swollen?

 - P: No.

 - A: Swellings around the eyes.

 - Further no pain?

 - P: No, no problem.

 - I think it is more on the psychological level.

 - A: It also belongs to a human being.

 - (Pause) You like the warmth.

 - We repeat your remedy.

 - P: And the blood pressure?

 - A: I will measure it immediately.

 - (Takes the blood pressure)

 - Do you see the steps: first, hypertension, then kidney problems and then you see the swellings of the feet and the swelling of only one foot, that is especially Kali carbonicum.

 - If you look in extremities "swelling, foot, oedematous, one foot only" on page 1202 kali carbonicum is the only remedy.

SWELLING, foot, œdematous, one foot only: Kali-c.

 - The organs which are unbalanced in Kali carbonicum in hypertension are the kidneys, this means one target of kali carbonicum is the kidneys, another the lungs.

 - Do you understand why there is a relationship between kali carbonicum and Nux vomica?

 - Because kali carbonicum always has to fulfill his duty and therefore works very hard.

 - For example, they have their own small factory and they work and work and work and they have quite a lot of stress, because they want to do it all perfectly, because they want to do their duty and because of all the stress they come into a Nux vomica state.

 - A: Indeed, 160/110 mmm Hg.

 - You take the remedy and I see you again after 14 days, to check the blood pressure.

 - You just pop in.

 - The main idea in hypertension is not being able to let go, a withholding, so that remedies like Natrum muriaticum, Kali carbonicum, Mercurius, Aurum, which cant express their emotions are the most important remedies in high blood pressure.

 - Which other remedies belong to this category?

 - Answer: "Nux vomica."

 - A: Yes, it is possible, but Nux vomica as well as Ignatia have this so called nervous hypertension, where the blood pressure goes up and down.

 - There is another remedy which withholds himself because of anxiety, people who are form childhood on anxious and dependent.

 - Answer: " Baryta carbonica."

 - A: Yes.

 - They withhold because of their anxiety and the irresolution and because of this constant withholding they have this premature old age.

 - Plumbum and Conium are also remedies for hypertension.

 - Do you understand why in Conium?

 - Because they can’t express

 - Their needs.

 - In the Repertory there is a rubric " effects of lack of coition".

 - You find this in the generalities " sexual desire, suppression of agg."

 - Nature says, "Don't suppress your sexuality; if you do there will be sequences."

 - Apis is also capital.

 - Apis is one of the remedies in which disease?

 - In pregnant women with eclampsia, preeclampsia: albumin, hypertension, convulsions, swellings, and oedema.

 - Apis as a complementary remedy to Natrum muriaticum.

 - Other remedies for hypertension?

 - Answer: "Lachesis."

 - A yes, Lachesis.

 - Lachesis is one of the most important remedies in hypertension.

 - The reason for his high blood pressure is not the withholding of the feelings in all remedies, also in Lachesis there must be another reason, but I don't know, which one.

 - I don't know the psychological reason for hypertension in Lachesis.

 - Remark: "..." (not understandable)

 - A: Yes, it might be if Lachesis has to live in a situation where they can't express themselves.

 - Remark : "If the husband says, 'shut your mouth'.

 - "Remark: " I think they are always overexcited and..."

 - A: Yes, these are good reasons.

 - In any case Lachesis is one of the most important remedies.

 - Phosphorus also can have high blood pressure, Pulsatilla surely also, I think nearly every remedy.

 - This man is doing well for two years with kali carbonicum.

 - He gets it a few times a year, it depends on the situation.

 - With kali carbonicum 10 M the blood pressure is now 140/90 mm Hg.

 - Before it was about 210 mm HG.

 - Question: "Is he married yet?"

 - A: No, he isn't married yet, but he doesn't go to school anymore, he stays at home.

 - He isn't confronted with the problems at school anymore and that is good for him.

 - Question: "What is the difference between Lycopodium and kali carbonicum eyes?"

 - A: In Lycopodium you see a small corner in the upper lid; in the medial triangle the upper lid forms a small triangle.

 - If you see this, first you have to think of Lycopodium.

 - The description of the swelling between the eyebrows and the upper lid you find this in "face, swelling, bloated, between lids and eyebrow" on page 355.

between lids and eyebrows : Cench., Kali-c.

 - This is a symptom which indicates especially kali carbonicum.

 - At the beginning when the swelling starts a the medium Sid you can see a little bag, like a small bag.

 - It doesn't have to be swollen all over, it also can be only a small bag from the side to the nose.

 - That is typical for kali carbonicum.

 - Question: " Where do we find the triangle in the upper lid of Lycopodium in the Repertory?"

 - A: It isn't in the Repertory.

 - Question: "..." (not understandable)

 - A: You also see this in children, but THE symptom for children, which indicates Lycopodium is the wrinkled face, the wrinkled forehead in pulmonary condition.

CASE 3v2

 Generalized oedema

 Kalium carbonicum

 - Man, 65 years old

 - First I refused to treat this patient because previously he had an accident, but then I gave in.

 - You see the swelling around the eyes, the lower lid as well as the upper lid are swollen.

 - Now he looks very well, before he was completely blown up.

 - A: You came in August and your problem is that you have been paralysed partially as a consequence of an accident.

 - P: A fracture of the cervical vertebra.

 - A: But the real problems were...

 - P:... swollen legs.

 - A: Strongly swollen.

 - P: Arms, legs and hands.

 - A: Also around the eyes was strongly swollen.

 - P: And tired, tired.

 - A: You also had salivation during sleep at night.

 - P: Yes.

 - Kali carbonicum also has this.

 - It is one degree in the rubric.

 - A: And you were very sensitive to cold.

 - P: Yes, very much.

 - If somewhere the door was open or there was a draft of air, I was shivering.

 - In general they are chilly, like Calcarea carbonica.

 - They can also have the Calcarea anxieties, so that often it is difficult to differentiate kali carbonicum from Calcarea carbonica.

 - Kali carbonicum is also rather chilly, Kali bichromicum is more warm blooded, but not especially warm blooded.

 - Mercurius is not warm and not cold.

 - When it is too warm they take something off and then it is too cold.

 - They have a very narrow range of sensitivity to temperature changes.

 - A: But the legs were enormously swollen.

 - P: Oh yes, I couldn't put on my shoes.

 - A: And you also had to be very warm in your back.

 - P: Yes, but that is a little bit better.

 - A: Further there was a second complaint: arthrosis of the left joint of the hip.

 - P: Yes, yes.

 - A: With the feeling as if the hip was too weak.

 - P: As if it was sinking through.

 - Where can we find this?

 - The feeling as if the left hip was too weak, as if it was sinking through, like a paralysis.

 - Look in extremities "weakness, hip, paralytic" on page 1229, there are two remedies: Argentum metallicum and kali carbonicum.

paralytic : Arg-m., kali-c.

 - A: Also a kind of weak feeling in the extremities.

 - In the meantime you also had a stitching pain in the little toe.

 - You already forgot it, in the meantime it is gone.

 - The next important keynote of kali carbonicum is the stitching pain everywhere.

 - If someone says that he has stitching pain in the back, in the toes or somewhere else, first you have to think of kali carbonicum when motion ameliorates.

 - In stitching pain which is better by motion kali carbonicum is one of the most important remedies.

 - When I was in Holland I me an older woman doctor, the secretary of the association for homoeopathic education.

 - At the beginning she didn't like me.

 - She was very strict and I was more flexible, I was cursing and I did this and I did this and that and I felt that she didn't like me.

 - She kept the books of receipts and expenditures and I was complaining because I didn't get enough money for the Centre.

 - I had the feeling that they were filling their pockets by my teaching and I was angry.

 - They didn't cheat me, no, they paid every hour, but anyhow I had the feeling the something wasn't right.

 - I had a big struggle and I didn't want to go there anymore if the contract stayed this way and therefore she was very angry.

 - Everything worked out all right again and now, three months ago, she was standing outside the class, leaning against the wall and was moaning.

 - I asked her what was the matter and she said, " I have such pain in my back that I couldn't sleep the whole night."

 - "What kind of paint?

 - " " Oh, stitches."

 - I thought she discharges her duty perfectly, does everything exactly and she is also really aristocratic, and then, this stitching pain in the back- so I said to her, " Do you know what you have to do now?

 - You take kali carbonicum M."

 - "Do you really think so?"

 - "Yes, I think so" and gave her kali carbonicum M with a wonderful result.

 - Two months later she told me that everything was all right.

 - She also went to a clairvoyant and he saw something in her kidneys and also this had disappeared.

 - Now, I'm her biggest friend.

 - If you see the way they work, the way they act, how dutiful and how principal orientated they are you get the idea of kali carbonicum.

 - If someone wants to negotiate with them, who deviates a little bit too much from their direction, they don't agree.

 - They hold on to their principle: that is my principle and I won't go away form it.

 - A: Often you also had stitch in pains in the shoulder blades.

 - P: I had, I was so nervous.

 - A: You took LASIX, when you came here and it didn't help anymore.

 - P: Not at all.

 - I took two to three tablets a day, but it didn't help anymore.

 - Does everyone know LASIX?

 - When you inject LASIX he urinates until he is empty.

 - He took LASIX, but he didn't react to it anymore.

 - A: LASIX is one of the strongest medicines for diuresis.

 - P: At that time the doctor prescribed LASIX P.

 - Before I had the normal LASIX, but it didn't help anymore.

 - A: I gave you a remedy in a high potency.

 - I repeated it twice afterwards.

 - How did it go with the swelling?

 - P: It is all right now.

 - In the evening the legs are still a little bit swollen.

 - Now, it is nearly normal.

 - A: When I gave you the remedy you could urinate normally?

 - P: In fact I don't know where the water has gone.

 - It went away gradually.

 - A: Has the swelling in the hands disappeared?

 - P: I told you already, my hands became thin.

 - A: Also in the face.

 - You can still see where the swelling was, Because the eyelids are hanging over the eyelashes.

 - Before it was swollen, the is not so anymore.

 - It is strange that before the swelling went away with LASIX and then LASIX didn't do anything.

 - Now the remedy helped you and the swelling has gone without excessive urination.

 - P: I said, "Where has the water gone?"

 - A: The pain also disappeared, you feel well.

 - P: Yes, rather, only the upper thigh.

 - A: You still suffer from your right upper thigh.

 - Haven't you been operated on?

 - P: I have been operated on, but when I and sitting I still have it sometimes.

 - Previously, I had it when I got up; the leg remained so crooked, that I couldn't get it straight.

 - And now I notice it again.

 - Now I put a piece of cloth between them, when I go to sleep, so that the perspiration...

 - And then in the evening I drink a few glasses of beer so that I can urinate.

 - Then I can lie down for one or two hours and then it starts cramping.

 - A: Like a cramp in your leg?

 - P: like a cramp in your leg?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: But you don't suffer so much from it?

 - P: Yes, I do.

 - Often when I get up in the morning about 6 o'clock.

 - A: What about your sleep?

 - P: If I didn't have this, I would sleep very well, because as soon as I get in bed, I sleep.

 - A: Do you sleep the whole night through?

 - P: No, I have to get up every two hours, because I get cramps in the muscles.

 - A; Since when do you suffer more form it?

 - P: I t started in the summer.

 - A: Yes, but I mean, has it become better lately?

 - You were her on November 21, I repeated your remedy.

 - Has it been better for a while afterwards?

 - P; Yes, it might be, but not so much; not worst mentioning.

 - A: And you have been operated on the side?

 - P: Yes, here above, to extend the muscles.

 - A: And there you have a problem?

 - P: Now it also starts in the other leg.

 - I didn't have it previously.

 - A: The swelling didn't appear again?

 - P: Yes.

 - I told you, only in the evening.

 - A: Do you mean that both you feet are equally swollen in the evening?

 - P: No.

 - The right foot is more swollen.

 - Also during the day.

 - As I already told you the swelling of one foot is a very important symptom for Kali carbonicum.

 - A: Also the right leg?

 - P: The right leg.

 - A: The whole right leg?

 - P: Also above the shin-bone.

 - At the moment it is very red.

 - A: Does the shin-bone.

 - Hurt?

 - P: No, I don't think so.

 - From time to time the physiotherapist comes and she says that the shin-bones are glowing, but I don't notice anything myself.

 - A: Is the pain in the upper thigh at night a convulsive situation in the muscles?

 - P: Yes, it pulls together, I cramps.

 - Especially at night, but also when I sit down for a while.

 - A: But in fact it is only there where you have been operated on?

 - P: Yes, but now it also starts on the other side.

 - There is a cramp.

 - He has had an operation to elongate the tendons.

 - It is still painful at night when he sits too long in the same position, a kind of cramping pain.

 - Maybe it is Plumbum, because Plumbum has contractions at night, but I don't have enough symptoms to be sure of the remedy.

 - But the most important was the oedema he had and strangely enough it disappeared without urinating more, often we try to understand how a remedy works, but we cant explain it.

 - When I saw him the first time I said that it was a kidney problem and that I could not cure him.

 - But there were some symptoms, the swelling around the eyes, the weakness of left hip and so on.

 - I gave kali carbonicum, with a wonderful reaction.

 - Question: "What was the reason for this oedema?"

 - A: I don't know.

 - He has an accident and since then he is paralyzed, he cant walk alone, only with orthopedic instruments.

 - That's why I thought at the beginning that it was too complicated, but you see if you have elements for a remedy it can do a lot.

 - I don't know yet what I should do with the pain in the upper thigh, maybe it is Plumbum, but I'm not sure.

 - Question: "What about Rhus toxicodendron?

 - Rhus toxicodendron has oedema, swelling around the eyes, stitching pains."

 - A: Yes, Rhus toxicodendron has all these symptoms, but the most important thing in Rhus toxicodendron is the restlessness, the pain, that drives him to motion.

 - Apparently, he is a very quiet man, he can sit quietly, I don't see any restlessness and I cant give Rhus toxicodendron without restlessness.

 - Without desire to move I cant give Rhus toxicodendron, also with swelling.

 - Kali carbonicum worked beautifully, there is no discussion about it.

 - Remark:  "In 'cramps in the upper thigh' kali carbonicum is there and in 'cramps during sleep' it is the only remedy."

 - A: Yes, "cramps, thigh, night," on page 974 you see Ambra grisea, Carbo animalis, Hepar sulphuris, Ipecacuanha, kali carbonicum; in " cramps during sleep" there is only kali carbonicum.

 - Also in "drawing pain in thigh" on page 1109 kali carbonicum is capital and  "drawing pain, thigh, night", there are only Arsenicum, kali carbonicum, Natrum muriaticum and Pulsatilla.

night : Ars., kali-c., nat-m., Puls.

 - The pain might become better, but it is difficult to give another remedy without being sure, I don't like to give a remedy without being sure and as you see kali carbonicum also has these cramps in the thigh.

 - A: "Drawing pain thigh".

 - I give you the remedy  10M and I would like to see you again after a month.

 - You are also a person who doesn't like to fight.

 - P: I don't think so.

 - I like it quiet and jovial.

 - A: Can you fight with other persons?

 - P: I don't think so.

 - I never tried it.

 - A: Also not before?

 - P: No.

 - A: Previously, you were a policeman?

 - P: Yes.

 - A: Could you give people a police warrant?

 - P: Very difficult.

 - A: But you did it?

 - P: Yes, but it must be very bad.

 - A: You did it because you had to do it.

 - P: Yes, but something serious has to happen.

 - They reproached me often that I didn't give enough police warrants.

 - A: Were you really dutiful?

 - P: Yes, according to me.

 - A: Did you ever come too late.

 - P: No, never too late.

 - I also never have been ill, never.

 - A: Did you have swelling around the eyed previously?

 - P: No, never.

 - A: And you never brought someone to court to show him who is the boss.

 - P: No,...

 - A: You are a rather good person.

 - P: Yes.

 - Since then I saw him maybe once or twice a year, when he came to get his remedy.

 - He never had to take Lasix again.

 - I think these people are more or less rather conservative, disciplined, but not so angry.

 - I mean, compared to Mercurius their anger is not so underlined.

 - They are rather soft and polite in society.

case 3 v2

 Hypertension

 Kalium carbonicum

 - Woman, 65 years old

 - A: How is your high blood pressure?

 - P: For a few days I have had black stripes.

 - A: Black spots before the eyes.

 - Together with the high blood pressure she has black spots before the eyes.

 - Where do we find this?

 - " Vision, colors, black, spots, floating (muscles volitantes)" on page 272.

floating (muscæ volitantes) : Acon., aesc., agar., am-c., anan., ant-t., arg-n., arn., asaf., aur., bar-c., bell., calc., carb-v., carl., caust., chel., Chin., chlol., cob., Cocc., coff., con., crot-h., cupr-ar., cycl., daph., dig., gels., glon., hyos., kali-c., kali-p., kali-s., lact., lil-t., lyc., mag-c., merc., mez., morph., nat-c., Nat-m., nit-ac., nux-m., nux-v., par., Phos., Phys., psor., rhus-t., Sep., Sil., sol-n., stram., Sulph., tab., ter.,thuj., verat., zinc.

- There are very many remedies.

 - A: It is not so bad as previously?

 - P: Not at all.

 - A: But it happened once?

 - P: Yes, the last week of September.

 - These are black points.

 - She says these are black points, not spots, but fine, black points.

 - In he rubric "points, black" we see Caustium, Gelsemium, Kali carbonicum, Nux vomica, phosphorus.

 - The rubrics for vision, colors are very important.

 - P: In October I had very much pain in my back.

 - A: Where?

 - P: Nearly at the same place.

 - A: At the height of you right kidney?

 - P: Yes, about.

 - A: What kind of pain was it?

 - P: It was a gnawing pain.

 - It pulls into the upper thigh.

 - Pain in the back, extending to the thigh, that is typical for kali carbonicum.

 - You find this, for example, in the rubric "back, pain lumbar region, extending to nates" and " Extending to thighs" on page 909, there is one remedy: kali carbonicum.

 - Also when the pain goes up- and downward, it is kali carbonicum.

 - She doesn't say anything about stitching, she has gnawing pain.

 - A: Only on the right side.

 - Show me exactly where the pain is.

 - P: (Points to the place)

 - A: Indeed in the right area of the kidney and it is extending to the front of the right thigh.

 - Does it stitch?

 - P: No, in fact there are no stitches.

 - A: And further?

 - P: I also have complaints with my knee.

 - It is always the left knee.

 - Lately, I also had very swollen feet.

 - A: Do you have a stitching pain in the left knee?

 - P: Yes.

 - Often, it give way.

 - I also have swollen feet.

 - A: When especially?

 - Are both feet swollen?

 - P: Yes, both.

 - A: Equally.

 - P: Often the left foot is more swollen than the right.

 - A: Are they swollen the whole day long or when?

 - P: In the morning it is always a little bit better.

 - A: Just one moment.

 - Concerning the weak feeling in the knee, when do you notice most that your knee gives out?

 - P: When I go downstairs.

 - A: You said it yourself.

 - I didn't ask for it.

 - " Weakness, knee, descending stairs" on page 1230: Kali carbonicum, Belladonna, Hura brasiliensis.

descending stairs : Bell., hura., kali-c., lact-ac.

 - Does someone know the keynote of Hura?

 - Answer: "Biting hands."

 - A: Yes, biting the fingers.

 - It has something to do with psychological problems.

 - They are always biting their fingers as an outlet for their internal psychological pressure.

 - That is a very interesting symptom.

 - Hura brasiliensis.

 - Belladonna, Lactic acid, weakness on descending stairs.

 - It is strange that the remedies which have weakness on descending stairs, are not the same as those which have weakness on ascending stairs.

 - The most important remedy in ascending stairs is Conium.

 - I had a case of a patient, a man who is living across the road and who came for a cough.

 - Besides this he had weak knees ascending stairs.

 - I gave him Mercurius and the cough became better, but then he had blood in the urine.

 - Normally these are polyps of the bladder and they are precancerous.

 - Which is the main important remedy in polyps of the bladder?

 - Answer: "Calcarea carbonica."

 - A: Yes, but I think, there is another one, which is more important.

 - Answer: "Thuja."

 - A: Yes, Thuja, but also Conium.

 - And when does the blood come in Conium?

 - At the beginning of the urination.

 - If there is blood at the end it is Hepar and so on.

 - I gave him Conium because of the blood in the urine and because he couldn't go upstairs.

 - In polyps of the bladder and the beginning of cancer think of Conium.

 - A: What about your sleep?

 - P: Some days I sleep well, but there are some days that I wake up between 3 and 4 o'clock at night and I can t fall asleep again.

 - Waking up between 3 and 4 o'clock, everybody knows, it is kali carbonicum.

 - P: But compared to before it is better, because before it happened every day.

 - A: So, in general a little bit better, but the complaints return again, especially the knee.

 - The feet are also a little bit more swollen.

 - Take off your coat, so that I can measure your blood pressure.

 - P: Doctor, is it true that you become tired from honey?

 - A: Not, that I know.

 - Unless you become tired from sweets, but I don't think so.

 - The blood pressure went down.

 - 165/100 mm Hg, if you consider that you had a blood pressure of 220 mm Hg.

 - You never took antihypertensive medicines since you are in treatment here.

 - She never took any antihypertensive, she always refused to take them.

 - The blood pressure went down from 220 mm Hg.

 - To 160 mm Hg with kali carbonicum.

 - A: Neither previously?

 - P: Before I did.

 - A: From the anamnesis I also have to say that you had tuberculosis and that you had hair falling from a certain medicine.

 - Question: "Is she wearing a wig?"

 - A: Yes.

 - She had tuberculosis and she had to take many medicines for one or two years.

 - At that time she lost all her hair.

 - A: Further, how are you doing in life?

 - P: Good.

 - A: You can laugh again, I see.

 - P: You, it is better.

 - The two girls are living on their own now.

 - I suffered very much from it.

 - They still come to visit me very often.

 - That's not the point, but personally I suffered very much from it.

 - It was in August.

 - Now, they are 26 and 23 years old.

 - A: From what age did you educate them in your convent?

 - P: They have lived with us for 18 years.

 - A: How are they doing?

 - Good?

 - P: Yes, good.

 - A: You took this to heart very much?

 - P: Yes.

 - Also the others suffered from it, but I cant resolve it.

 - A: You withhold your emotions?

 - P: Yes.

 - But they are happy and I'm glad about it, although I still feel it.

 - A: But psychologically you feel a little bit more free?

 - P: Yes, I do.

 - I can relate certain things.

 - I couldn't before.

 - Previously, it was also a completely different life than now.

 - When Sister X was ill, I felt terrible.

 - She didn't know it.

 - I lay awake night after night.

 - A: Previously you had such a wall around you that no emotions could come out.

 - P: Life made it this way.

 - If I trusted someone and he disappointed me, people who stab you in the back, these are things which I take to heart.

 - A: But the way you react, it is typical for you.

 - P: Yes, maybe it is.

 - A: Everybody will be stabbed in the back once in his life, I think.

 - But one person reacts in this way and another person reacts in that way.

 - P: Yes.

 - With the consequence that it is difficult for me to trust anybody.

 - I experienced too many disappointment s in life.

 - Trust is something very important for me.

 - Of which remedy could we think?

 - Of Natrum muriaticum.

 - At the beginning I gave her Natrum muriaticum and the hypertension didn't change at all.

 - I couldn't understand this, until I repertorized the case again.

 - Natrum muriaticum also has these black spots before the eyed and so on.

 - All the symptoms which Kali carbonicum has; then the weakness in the knee.

 - That's why I thought of kali carbonicum, and the hypertension went down.

 - Here it is difficult to differentiate between Natrum muriaticum and kali carbonicum on the psychological level because both are closed.

 - She also had something like a grief, a grief towards people who did something wrong to her.

 - That is something we know of Natrum muriaticum, but apparently you also find this in kali carbonicum.

 - A: Yes, society had to be built on it, and when it is not there anymore, it goes downhill.

 - You are someone who can't show your emotions.

 - You withhold yourself and that's why you got hypertension.

 - P: But it is worse since retirement.

 - I never thought it would come this far.

 - I always dreamt of doing quite a lot of things in school and that was impossible.

 - Indeed, I found this remedy in a very acute state.

 - She came with very high blood pressure and the left leg was completely swollen.

 - She came with this swelling after she got Natrum muriaticum few times.

 - It was a very dangerous situation and that's how I found kali carbonicum.

 - The reaction was wonderful, within two days her leg was normal again.

 - Question: "Is kali carbonicum also a remedy in thrombosis?"

 - A: You can call this thrombosis, but it is not important whether it is thrombosis or not.

 - If I had sent her to the hospital, maybe they would have detected thrombosis.

 - It is important which remedy can cure this and that you know a thrombosis can be cured by Homoeopathy.

 - I didn't care about the background of the disease, but about the symptoms.

 - Under Natrum muriaticum she developed swelling of the left leg and she reacted beautifully to kali carbonicum.

 - That's how I found kali carbonicum in her.

 - She is also a very closed, serious person, but you don't see the swelling around the eyes in her.

 - Kali carbonicum is also a consumption remedy, a remedy in tuberculosis.

 - A: Previously, your left knee was swollen.

 - In the meantime it has become thinner.

 - P: It is still a little bit swollen, but not so much anymore.

 - A: Are you still trembling while writing?

 - P: Yes, sometimes I still am.

 - Trembling hands while writing, you see, kali carbonicum is there as well.

 - A: Do you still have black spots when you are reading?

 - P: No.

 - A: Previously you had it.

 - Now you don't have complaints with it anymore.

 - You didn't have equilibrium disturbances either, the vertigo and so on.

 - P: No.

 - A: Because you have swollen feet again, pain in the right region of the kidneys, extending downwards and weakness in the left knee, I will repeat the remedy.

 - The problem in this nun is that she had a very narrow minded education and she herself is very narrow minded, so that she can't express her emotions.

 - This is difficult to change and that is also the reason for her relapses.

 - I hope you felt this closedness, the armour of this person.

 - It is impossible to break this wall of protection.

 - They are serious and they hold very much to their duty.

 - She is the leader of a big congregation and she has quite a lot of responsibility.

 - Is the difference between kali bichromicum, Mercurius and kali carbonicum on the emotional and psychological level clear?

 - The duty is the most important thing in kali carbonicum, also in Mercurius, but usually together with a withholding, internal anger.

 - We don't find this internal anger in kali carbonicum.

 - If you talk to kali carbonicum people they are very polite people.

 - In Mercurius people you feel the anger in the background.

 - We already talked in detail about the most important point in kali bichromicum.

EXTRA

I had a patient who was completely blown up, the feet were blown up, completely edematous. The feet, the face, the eyes, the hands, everything. It was a man who had an accident many years ago. He took LASIX i.v.  The nurse came at home to inject the LASIX and then he could urinate; but after a while this LASIX did not help him anymore. He came in the centre. He told me what was wrong, I asked him about his character and so on and then I gave him Kali carbonicum M. After three weeks he came back and said, "Doctor, I don't know. The water is gone, but I didn't have to urinate more." Very strange, isn't it? He was urinating normal, but where is the water gone now.

ANOTHER CASE >

- This time we have a man without a tie, we don't have to think of Kali carbonicum or Mercurius.

- Kali ferro-cyanatum in people with a Kali character, who are very conservative and to whom duty is very important.

A: Yes, diarrhoea in anticipation. Usually, in Lycopodium it is the abdomen, it is the target organ; like in Kali carbonicum the target organ is the kidney.
