- After an
accident they have involuntary stool and urine and trembling all over the body.
- That is Opium.
A: You were run into by a car when you returned with your girl-friend
from a party of the youth-movement at 11.00 p.m. The car ran into you from behind. The driver
was drunk. Your girl-friend was killed and you were flung away, by which you
sustained a fracture of the pelvis. The acetabulum in
your right hip was broken and there was a diastasis
of the pubis. There was a fracture of the tibia and the fibula left. There was
a deep wound in the inguinalis. I was called and you
were in coma at that moment. There comes the
homoeopathic remedy number 1, which I
gave you in a very high potency, because you were in coma. This remedy has awaken you from coma within 48 hours.
I am talking about the second remedy, but immediately after the accident I gave a first remedy to which she reacted very well. She was comatose and had a snoring respiration - "respiration, snoring, while insensible" (p. 776).
RESPIRATION, SNORING, insensible, while : Op.
You see in that rubric only one remedy. You can touch them,
they do not react and the respiration is very, very slow and snoring - very,
very deep and very slow; suddenly it stops and then they start
respiring again, as I told you of the child whose mother had been injected with
DOLANTIN. This
is the first remedy you always have to take with in cases of accidents, or in
cases of cerebral hemorrhages.
A year ago they came to me and said that a neighbour, a single woman, she was divorced and she was living on the first floor, it was on old house, the old house where I was practising in 1982 or 1983; the first floor was an apartment where this woman was living; she was about 45 years old - they came and said, "She is almost dead." She had fallen, because she had a hypertension. Immediately, I put Aconitum and Opium in my pocket and went to her. She was lying there and had a very deep, snoring respiration - I waited and waited, almost 30, 35 seconds, I thought, "Oh my God !" and then she had a very long expiration, stopped, again a very, very long deep inspiration and stopped again. She was lying with open eyes, and there was blood coming out of the nose and the mouth. She did not have a corneal reflex (The corneal reflex, also known as the blink reflex, is an involuntary blinking of the eyelids elicited by stimulation of the cornea (such as by touching or by a foreign body),). Where do we find this ? "Eyes insensible" (p. 244).
INSENSIBILITY : Carb-o., carb-s., crot-h., hyos., kali-br., op., stram.
Another peculiar thing for Opium is painlessness of complaints usually painful - "painlessness of complaints usually painful" (p. 1390): Opium and Stramonium. "Slow respiration during sleep" (p. 775).
RESPIRATION, SLOW, INSPIRATION, sleep, during : Acon., chin., Op.
It is typical for Opium that they are completely
insensitive, this means that they are in coma. Together with this kind of
deep, slow, snoring respiration you have to give Opium.
Another patient whom I cured with Opium had been hospitalized for an apoplexy. They thought, he was dying. His family came to the centre and I gave the woman a tube Opium LM 6 without the knowing of the doctors. Why LM 6 ? Because of the convulsions in high fever - he was comatose the whole time and got cortisone and antibiotics. That is why I gave Opium LM 6 continuously. In the meantime he is at home. He can walk with supports, but can not talk yet. He had an aphasia (Aphasia : It is a condition that robs you of the ability to communicate. Aphasia can affect your ability to express and understand language, both verbal and written. ) after an apoplexy. Which is the most important remedy ? Baryta carbonica, there is also Nux vomica. (Baryta carbonica is an addition)
So, do not forget: the first remedy in these cases is Opium, you can save lives. Here, you are dealing with several things together. We know from Hahnemann, that in chronic diseases - he wrote in his "Organon" - you need only one remedy at a certain moment in a certain situation. That is important, but the situation can change from minute to minute, in this minute you need a certain remedy, in another minute you need another remedy and so on. That is possible. In a big accident there are so many aspects: first anxiety - this can be Opium because of anxiety, ailments from fright: a car comes and suddenly he drives into you from behind. That is a fright. And if you look at "unconsciousness from fright", for example, "unconsciousness", I do not know whether this is in the Repertory or not. No, it is not; then we look, for example, at "trembling from fright" or "faintness after fright" (p. 1360).
GENERALITIES, FAINTNESS,fright, after : Acon., gels., ign., lach., Op., verat.
A fright, that is something suddenly. Do you know what "fright" is ? That is a very sudden anxiety, very sudden. You see on page 1360 "faintness after fright". Then on page 1408 "trembling from fright";
GENERALITIES, TREMBLING, fright, from : Arg-n., aur., coff., glon., hura., ign., mag-c., merc., nicc., op., puls., rat., rhus-t., sep.
then you also see that someone has stool in his pants after a fright. Where can you find this ? In Belgium there is an expression: ... So, "rectum, involuntary stool after fright" (p. 621).
RECTUM,
INVOLUNTARY STOOL, fright, after : Op., phos., verat.
You see: the most near dead remedy because of accidents is Opium, because an accident has always to do with a fright, a sudden anxiety, an accident happens suddenly.
First, she got Opium and then the remedy that we have to give in an accident, which is this remedy ? Arnica. Afterwards, I gave her Arnica in a very high potency, I think Opium 10 M and Arnica M. Then she came out of coma and after 3 hours she aggravated again. I gave her Arnica again, she improved - for 6 hours, then 12 hours, 24 hours and then she came totally out of coma. But then she came into another state.
Also Opium, but Opium should start trembling. If Opium is mortified, it starts trembling, all over.
After an accident, so after a
shock Aconitum reacts so... (speechless from fright). But
if they come in and they are terribly trembling then you have to give Opium, that is not Aconitum. In Aconitum you have the element anxiety, in Opium the
paralysis, a little bit like Gelsemium, trembling and
weakness, but in Opium it is more trembling
